- Description
"Billikin" Johnson gets top billing on this record despite not being the singer. His contributions consist of whistling two notes at once, vocal train imitations, and something like a kazoo effect. One vocal chorus by Fred Adams on each song, the rest is Johnson, accompanied by Willie Tyson on piano and Octave Gaspard on tuba Recorded in Dallas, December 1927. Light wear and not much peak distortion, scuffing and some small scratches, plays well with a 3.3-mil stylus. Grade really should be E-- or E-V+ but VM doesn't provide those options, so V++ it is. MP3 available on request. This record is from the personal collection of radio personality and music historian Barret “Dr. Demento” Hansen, who is starting to downsize portions of his collection.
