- Description
- Nice 1964 Oak Publications edition, well illustrated. Very solid copy, Front and Back spine edges are mostly white with wear, with a bit of uniform back- slant to the entire spine. Would rate this VG+ but for the spine wear. Big Bill Broonzy (1893-1958) was of course one of the masters of the country blues. His 1955 autobiography, Big Bill Blues, was the earliest book written by a country blues musician. It captures the full flavor of Broonzy's unique voice as he tells about his thirty years of playing the blues. Here are intimate stories about other blues greats - Sleepy John Estes, Lonnie Johnson, Sonny Boy Williamson, Memphis Slim; Memphis Minnie, Washboard Sam - and descriptions of how he came up with the ideas for his songs. Forward by Charles Edward Smith.
