- Vintage 1942 Hardcover Edition No dust jacket, book basically intact and solid, no rips or separations. Condition overall is what book sellers would call Good. See oxidation spots on outer edge of book in the image here. There is an inscription on the inner frontispiece. Long into the last century, Jazz was critically and shamefully ignored by the literate community. The Jazz Record Book is one of the earliest Jazz books ever published, with the exception perhaps of "Shining Trumpets" The authors themselves are legendary, especially William "Bill" Russell, late of New Orleans fame.
