Description
Kid Ory's group was the first black New Orleans jazz band to record, for the Santa Monica, CA Nordskog label in 1922 which credited the band as Spikes' Seven Pods of Pepper Orchestra. Most copies are re-labeled with the Sunshine pasteover label crediting Ory as the bandleader. This copy's labels are in nice shape except for a few places at the edges where there was no glue and the label lifted to reveal the Nordskog label underneath. "Ory's Creole Trombone" has a few 2g digs that pass with no problem, plays pretty well with moderate distortion except for the last two choruses which have some heavy distortion on the loud cornet notes. "Society Blues" has only light to moderate distortion and has a pit and a few small digs that pass, and one 3g dig near the end that makes more noise but also passes.
