Description
Oversize vinyl test pressing of Johnson's most famous song, this take was not issued on a commercial 78 and only exists as a test pressing. This copy has no label at all. I don't think there's any actual wear, but there was some corrosion of the metal part that causes noise mostly in the right channel for part of the recording, complicated by two small bumps in the pressing about in the middle of the side which are inaudible in mono but cause thumps when playing only one groove wall. Plays with almost no distortion with a 2.8-mil stylus, unlike most ARC recordings from that period which usually play better with a wider stylus.
