Description

Wonderful African-American string band music recorded in Dallas in late 1928, and "Chasin' Rainbows" was famously covered by R. Crumb's Cheap Suit Serenaders. Unfortunately, that is the song that the original owner of this record loved so much that the vocals now play with a lot of distortion, especially in the last chorus, though the instrumental choruses still play enjoyably. There are three lam cracks near the end of "I Used to Call Her Baby" that only start to sound in the last few grooves of music, and apart from those lams that side plays great with a 3.0-mil stylus. There's an odd crease about 1" into the music on "Chasin' Rainbows" which runs tangential to the grooves and doesn't affect play, barely visible on the other side as a slight bend in the surface, also inaudible. MP3 available on request. This record is from the personal collection of radio personality and music historian Barret “Dr. Demento” Hansen, who is starting to downsize portions of his collection.
